The Problem
Making games is hard - as a fellow game developer, believe me, I know. The amount of work in every direction is just staggering and the nuances of UX simply aren't front and center for most of the dev cycle. As a UX professional, I might be bummed, but as a developer I simply know this to be true.
That being said, how players build a model of your game in their heads is crucial to its success. Do they buy into the player fantasy? Do they understand the gameplay loop? Do they set the right goals and find the tools to execute them easily?
Let's make sure these questions are answered with a resounding 'yes!' before your next big milestone.
Think of it as a parachute check before making the big jump to a public demo or publisher. The goal is not to find more flaws to fix, but to give you absolutely the best chance of convincing players to fall in love with your game.
